HUGO PALMER

Location: Nr. Thirsk, North Yorkshire.  Kevin Ryan came from Tipperary, from a non-racing background, to become a jump jockey in the North of England, staying there to assist Jack Berry and Richard Fahey. Kevin set up training in his own right in 1998 at the historic Hambleton Lodge Stables near Thirsk.

Kevin has enjoyed multiple Group 1 success, firstly with Amadeus Wolf in the 2005 Middle Park and then in top races such as the Prix de l’Abbaye (Desert Lord), the Racing Post Trophy, the Middle Park Stakes, Prix Maurice De Gheest and Irish Champion Stakes. In 2014 he reached the highest echelon in racing when he sent his Dante winner The Grey Gatsby to win the Group One Prix Du Jockey Club

In 2007 he sent out his first century of winners and has a fast growing overall total of 1500. High class sprinter Brando is the current stable star and one of Kevin’s greatest feats was to win the hot Portland Handicap three years in a row 2002-4 with another public favourite, Halmahera. For Highclere he trained the filly Inetrobil to win the Listed Cecil Frail in 2012, Byline was an impressive 2yo winner in 2019 and the useful Knighted won an impressive four times in 2018.
