Nicky Richards trains out of Greystoke stables, an area synonymous with National Hunt training, based on the edge of The Lake District National Park.

A former jumps jockey, Nicky took over the reins at Greystoke in 1997 after several years as assistant to his father, Gordon Richards.

Continuing his fathers distinguished career Nicky has had many notable successes, including multiple G1 winning Monet’s Garden, whose long list of accolades include the G1 Ascot Chase (x 2), the G1 Melling chase and the G2 Old Roan Chase (x 3). More recent horses of note are Guitar Pete winner of the 2017 Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham, Simply Ned a two times G1 winner at Leopardstown in the Paddys’ Rewards Club Chase, 2019 Scottish Grand National winner Takingrisks.

For over 20 years Nicky has produced more than 800 winners of the highest calibre and £5million in prize money.
