Richard Junior is well known for his ability to train two-year-olds, sending out over 100 juvenile winners in 2014 and 2015, but he is certainly no one trick pony and the exploits of Group 1 winners Ventura Storm, Pether’s Moon, Night Of Thunder, Toronado and Olympic Glory are testament to that. The handover from four-time champion trainer Richard senior could hardly have gone more smoothly, for Richard took the championship at the first attempt with 206 domestic winners.
His latest Group 1 performer is Snow Lantern, daughter of Sky Lantern who his father trained at the very highest level. Richard continues to train a prolific number of winners, having reached the 1000 winner milestone in 2019, what is more he has accumulated over an impressive £2.5million in prize money for the last three consecutive seasons.
Richard’s aim is to “strive for quality horses and to give owners a good all-round experience, with hopefully some success on the way,”. Richard has certainly lived up to this reputation both on the track and while hosting owners at some very jolly stable visits!
